Those enrolled in the Mechanical Engineering Ph.D. program will conduct cutting-edge research under faculty supervision, typically working as compensated research assistants on government or corporate-sponsored initiatives.
The curriculum focuses on addressing complex issues through analytical, experimental, or design methodologies. Goals may include 1) analyzing and interpreting the dynamics of basic systems or 2) systematically organizing the methods of a rapidly evolving discipline. Alongside required coursework, examinations, publications, and thesis work, this investigation leads to a comprehensive final dissertation.
The doctoral thesis must present novel findings in analysis, experimentation, design, or a synthesis of these approaches. In all cases, the dissertation must offer groundbreaking insights that advance the discipline.
