The Department of Biomedical Sciences commits to outstanding research, education, and academic pursuits while promoting cooperation between faculty and students across diverse fields. Its research-focused graduate offerings encompass PhD and MS degrees, both designed with adaptable curricula. These programs combine foundational coursework with specialized electives, tailored by students in collaboration with their Advisor and Advisory Committee to meet individual learning objectives. The PhD track generally spans 4-5 years post-bachelor's degree, with initial years blending coursework with research involvement. Upon choosing an advisor, students progressively transition from classes to full-time research in later stages. Advancement to PhD candidacy requires passing a preliminary exam centered on a student-proposed research initiative.
