The Department of Applied Science is a multidisciplinary graduate program primarily centered on doctoral studies, while also providing select Master of Science opportunities. Students can tailor both degrees to specialize in various concentrations across physical and natural sciences. Each graduate works closely with their advisory committee to design a personalized academic path aligned with their career aspirations. Our diverse student body brings varied academic backgrounds and professional objectives to the program. The graduate experience combines structured coursework, faculty mentorship, peer collaboration, and seminar participation to foster comprehensive learning. The curriculum's coursework element offers significant flexibility, with each student's plan developed in consultation with their faculty advisory team.
To earn their degree, students must complete either: 1) 30 graduate credit hours plus an original thesis (approved by their committee and defended orally), or 2) 32 graduate credit hours including Applied Science 710 Research Project.
