The Master of Landscape Architecture program emphasizes the department's core competencies in urban and community design (including associated research topics), ecological and historical landscape restoration, and design for health. Clemson provides two MLA pathways: the accredited first professional degree (3+ years) designed for students without prior design education, and the second professional degree (2 years) for those holding an accredited undergraduate landscape architecture degree.
Clemson MLA alumni consistently enjoy diverse career prospects across the nation. While most landscape architects work in metropolitan and suburban regions, significant opportunities exist in rural and natural settings. As the MLA represents the highest academic qualification in the field, Clemson graduates are eligible for faculty positions in landscape architecture programs.
