This mathematics graduate program offers customizable course options while building proficiency in specialized areas of pure or applied mathematics. Students collaborate closely with experienced faculty specializing in applied mathematics, computational science, statistics, financial engineering, industrial modeling, and related disciplines. The program provides hands-on experience tackling real-world challenges for corporate and government partners through our globally recognized Engineering & Computational Mathematics Clinic.
Students can choose between a Master of Arts (MA) or Master of Science (MS) degree, both with identical academic requirements. Applicants must hold a bachelor's degree in mathematics, with ideal preparation including undergraduate studies in multivariate calculus, real analysis, differential equations, linear algebra, complex variables, numerical methods, and probability. As part of the Claremont Center for the Mathematical Sciences, students benefit from access to one of California's most extensive mathematical science communities through the Institute of Mathematical Sciences.
