The Secondary Education graduate program's Mathematics Education specialization aligns with the guidelines set by prominent math organizations like the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM). This curriculum equips candidates with an understanding of students' varying mathematical aptitudes across different skill levels. It focuses on developing problem-solving abilities, mathematical reasoning, and techniques for actively involving youth in their educational journey. Students can pursue this Mathematics Education concentration either for certification alone or combine it with a master's degree. While all applicants start in the master's track, they may opt to exit after meeting certification requirements or continue for the full degree. The program mandates at least 25 credits for certification and 31 credits for the combined certification and master's degree option.
