The Graduate Program in Applied and Computational Mathematics (ACM) equips students with comprehensive research and learning opportunities focused on modeling, analysis, algorithmic development, computational methods, and simulation techniques for challenges across mathematics, science, and engineering disciplines. Students can pursue both Master's (MA/MS) and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degrees through this program, which aims to prepare graduates for academic positions, research lab roles, and industrial careers in mathematics. ACM faculty features distinguished professors including a Robert O. Lawton honoree and the Sir James Lighthill Chair holder. Their robust research portfolio spans diverse applications, computational approaches, and algorithm development, with substantial interdisciplinary work involving collaborations across Florida State University departments and international academic institutions.

A bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited U.S. institution, or a comparable degree from an international institution, with a minimum 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale) grade point average (GPA) in all coursework attempted while enrolled as an upper-division undergraduate student working towards a bachelor's degree

Effective Fall 2023, GRE is no longer required for PhD admissions in Department of Mathematics.
Currently, Florida State University has waived the GRE requirement for most MS programs, including the MS programs in Department of Mathematics.
