The American Studies program offers an interdisciplinary exploration of U.S. culture, society, and identity, examining these through historical, literary, and theoretical frameworks. CGU's unique research methodology allows students to investigate the development of American history and culture while enhancing their humanities education. This concentration is open to students enrolled in Applied Gender Studies, Cultural Studies, English, History, and Religion programs, appearing as a supplementary qualification on transcripts alongside their primary degree. Participants collaborate with faculty mentors to design a cohesive academic path, incorporating departmental seminars and cross-listed courses from CGU and The Claremont Colleges. The curriculum requires at least four seminars within the student's primary department and two from related disciplines.
