Students can opt for either a 50-credit or 60-credit major. To graduate, those completing the 50-credit option must pair it with a minor or second major in a different field, while the 60-credit path doesn't require additional specializations.
The philosophy honors program acknowledges outstanding academic achievement among eligible majors. Qualification requires completion of at least 25 major credits with minimum GPAs of 3.0 overall and 3.5 in major courses.
Honors candidates must complete extra requirements beyond standard coursework: an additional upper-level program course, an excellent thesis (PHIL 497: Honors Thesis) assessed by a second faculty reviewer, and an oral presentation. Successful honors graduates receive special notation on their academic records.
