CMU undergraduates majoring in chemistry or biochemistry can take advantage of our accelerated BS/MS option, which lets them apply select senior-level chemistry courses toward both degrees, potentially completing their MS in just one additional year.
This research-intensive curriculum covers all principal chemistry fields: analytical, biochemistry, inorganic, organic, and physical chemistry.

Qualification Requirements

Applicants for admission to the Chemistry M.S. program must be admitted initially to Graduate Studies at CMU (https://fireup.cmich.edu/apply/). In addition to the CMU admission materials, the applicant must provide two letters of reference and a statement of purpose. GRE exam scores are not required. Applicants should have received a baccalaureate degree in chemistry, biochemistry, or related area, with a minimum grade point average of 2.7 overall and 2.7 in chemistry courses.
The Statement of Purpose should be one page describing your purpose and general plan for graduate study.
Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) score of 550 PBT/79 IBT.
International English Language Testing System (IELTS) score of 6.5.
