The chemistry master's program offers students deeper exploration of advanced chemical concepts beyond undergraduate studies. A major component involves hands-on, autonomous research, equipping graduates to work as research scientists in industrial settings. Those completing a Master's in chemistry gain the technical expertise to conduct sophisticated laboratory investigations while developing robust communication abilities in both speaking and writing. New students typically initiate the process of choosing a research advisor during their initial term. Program requirements mandate consultations with at least three faculty members regarding research opportunities before finalizing this selection. The procedure concludes when students submit the SAC form, endorsed by three faculty members, to the Chemistry Student Services Office. Among these faculty, one must agree to supervise the student's research. This selection cannot be finalized before October 15 for fall entrants or February 15 for spring entrants, with completion generally occurring by the conclusion of the first academic term.
