Music is a deep passion that inspires sharing with others. Those pursuing a music education degree receive extensive performance training while completing coursework for K-12 teaching certification. You'll develop expertise in performance, theory, history, and teaching methods - comprehensive musical studies that prepare you for either teaching careers or top graduate programs. Working alongside accomplished faculty, students refine professional abilities and teaching strategies for K-12 music education. CMU graduates teach in schools across Michigan and nationwide, at universities, and in community arts programs. Many also enter related fields like arts administration, music publishing, and retail. Central Michigan University's modern 119,000-square-foot music facility features cutting-edge resources including a 500-seat concert hall with Casavant organ, recital hall, digital labs, recording studios, and a music resource center. Music majors can join the Residential College, living among like-minded peers who share their artistic aspirations.
