Educational theory and context
Student development principles

Professional collaboration

Through hands-on observation and interaction with art educators in diverse settings, SIUE students develop reflective teaching practices for varied learning environments. The curriculum emphasizes dual growth as both practicing artists and skilled educators, with access to top-tier facilities for artistic creation and lesson development.

Students gain comprehensive training through intermediate studio courses, art history studies, and specialized education coursework. The program culminates in a semester-long student teaching experience across two Illinois public school grade levels.
