Our PhD program falls under the Biomedical Sciences Training Program, offering 11 distinct doctoral tracks within the biomedical field. This multidisciplinary structure enables specialization in biochemistry while incorporating electives from complementary areas. For example, students focusing on X-ray crystallography or protein structure research may require coursework in physical chemistry. A dedicated faculty advisor will guide you throughout your approximately six-year doctoral journey. The initial year combines foundational coursework with research experiences, while the second year adds qualifying exams to determine your research focus. While developing your specialization, note that our alumni typically publish five papers on average, ensuring a robust CV as you launch your professional career.
