The MPH program partners with various University schools and departments to provide dual degree options, enabling students to pursue careers that bridge multiple fields. Typically, students can earn both degrees by extending their partner degree program by one year. For instance, an MD candidate could complete an MD/MPH dual degree in five years by adding one year to the standard four-year MD curriculum. Dual degree candidates must fulfill 27 core MPH credits (18 foundational credits plus 9 Culminating Experience credits) alongside their partner degree requirements. Of the remaining 15 credits, 9 are expected to come from courses within the Department of Population and Quantitative Health Sciences, which houses the MPH program. The final 6 credits may be chosen from approved courses in the partner program.
This five-year, 42-credit master's program prepares graduates for roles in diverse settings such as public health agencies, academic institutions, healthcare facilities, non-profits, and corporate sectors like insurance and pharmaceuticals. Specialization areas encompass health promotion, population research, health policy, global health, and health informatics.
