The field of Asian studies has gained significant prominence in higher education across North America. This growing importance stems from increased recognition of Asia's cultural influence both locally and worldwide. Our Asian Studies Program provides a multidisciplinary approach, enabling students to examine the diverse historical, social, political, and cultural factors that have influenced Asian societies. The program incorporates expertise and coursework from various departments including anthropology, art history, economics, modern languages, history, philosophy, political science, and religious studies. Prospective students can obtain an updated list of eligible courses from the program advisor. We strongly recommend taking classes across multiple disciplines to gain comprehensive knowledge of Asian languages, literature, arts, cultural practices, religious beliefs, and socio-political systems. High-achieving students may qualify for our specialized honors track within the Asian Studies Program.
