The Nutritional Science and Dietetics program (previously known as Nutrition and Food Sciences) at CSUSB aims to deliver excellent education and cultural awareness, equipping students for supervised training that qualifies them to take the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) exam and become registered dietitian nutritionists (RDNs). The accredited Didactic Program in Dietetics (DPD) and Individualized Supervised-Practice Pathway (ISPP) Program ensure graduates gain the academic and professional skills needed for entry-level RDN roles across diverse settings, serving the nutritional and health requirements of individuals, families, schools, and communities.
The Bachelor of Science in Nutritional Science and Dietetics (NSCD) is ideal for students pursuing careers in food, nutrition, or dietetics. After earning the BS degree and receiving the DPD Verification Statement, graduates qualify to begin a supervised-practice program to become RDNs and can also take the exam to become Nutrition and Dietetic Technician Registered (NDTR). This certification enables some graduates to work in dietetics-related roles, gaining valuable experience to strengthen their DI applications. Additionally, BS degree holders (without VS DPD) may take the Dietary Supervisor Exam to become Certified Dietary Supervisors/Managers (CDM), with exam details provided by ANFP (Association of Nutrition and Foodservice Professionals).
