The program aims to equip students with skills to deliver family life education across various settings including schools, religious institutions, youth initiatives, family service organizations, and community programs. This certificate curriculum addresses all ten core family life content areas defined by the National Council on Family Relations (NCFR). Students receive a Sacramento State certificate upon completing both the certificate and degree prerequisites. The program runs parallel to existing degree coursework, with most certificate classes counting toward a Family and Consumer Sciences degree. Note that this certificate does not constitute a teaching license. However, when combined with a Bachelor's or Master's degree or a state teaching credential, it can enhance employment prospects for Family Life Educator positions.
