Statistics, the discipline of deriving insights from information, has grown in significance as organizations, researchers, and policymakers increasingly depend on data-centric approaches. Professionals in statistics operate across diverse sectors such as finance, healthcare, public health, farming, ecological studies, athletics, and governmental operations. As society becomes more digitally connected, data has proliferated exponentially, creating greater need for statistical experts skilled in gathering and interpreting information. Students pursuing statistics master techniques for crafting research studies that effectively meet project objectives and for accurately evaluating collected data. Foundational coursework includes versatile statistical approaches (like regression analysis and experimental design) along with theoretical and mathematical principles. Specialized classes examine particular data formats commonly found in real-world applications. Those majoring in statistics can choose to complement their studies with an actuarial science minor, which focuses on statistical and financial methodologies used in the insurance industry.
