Our Asian Studies Program covers East Asia (including China/Taiwan, Japan, the Koreas, and Mongolia), Southeast Asia (Brunei, Cambodia, East Timor, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam), and South Asia (Afghanistan, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka). The program provides detailed country-specific studies while exploring cross-border topics that link Asia with other global regions, including the United States. Students can also pursue minors in Korean Studies, South and Southeast Asian Studies, or study Chinese or Japanese languages.

This major offers students a structured foundation in the languages, histories, and cultures of Asian societies while fostering interdisciplinary insights into the region's key social and political dynamics, complemented by language instruction. Program alumni often pursue advanced degrees or apply their expertise in government, business, or education sectors focused on this globally significant region.

Qualification Requirements

An applicant who has not completed any post-secondary education after high school is considered a first-time freshman applicant. If there is a gap between the time you graduated high school and when you are applying to the University, but have not attempted or completed any college or university coursework, you are still considered a first-time freshman. Please note that an evaluation from an agency is not required or recommended as we do in-house evaluations of all foreign credentials.
