Bowling Green State University stands among a select group of Ohio institutions providing an undergraduate degree in Asian Studies. The program equips students with comprehensive understanding of East Asian, South Asian, and Southeast Asian cultures and societies, specialized expertise in one East Asian nation (Japan, China, or Korea), and foundational conversational and reading abilities in an Asian language.
In today's interconnected global economy and digital landscape, Pacific Rim countries have emerged as vital collaborators with the United States in multinational commerce, international relations, and cultural interaction. As the world's most populous region, Asia boasts some of the fastest-growing and most dynamic economies. There's increasing need for American professionals knowledgeable about Asian business practices, media, governance, education, technology sectors, and service industries.

BGSU distinguishes itself as one of the limited Ohio universities offering a bachelor's program in Asian Studies. Participants develop wide-ranging insights into East Asian, South Asian, and Southeast Asian civilizations, focused expertise in a specific East Asian country (Japan, China, or Korea), and elementary speaking and reading proficiency in an Asian language.
International study opportunities, Asian business internships, and frequent guest lectures transform academic concepts into practical experiences, create professional connections, and expand students' international perspectives.

Graduates with an interdisciplinary Asian Studies major gain significant advantages when pursuing careers with multinational corporations, cultural or government institutions, international education programs, public sector roles, research positions, or non-profit organizations.
