The Master of Urban Planning offers a comprehensive education in urban planning, with a particular focus on California's unique planning landscape shaped by state-specific laws and regulations that differ from other U.S. regions. The program blends academic theory with hands-on practice, covering essential planning concepts in the classroom while applying them to real-world challenges at local and regional scales through practical exercises and fieldwork.
This 36-credit master's program can be completed in two years, operating on a cohort model where new groups begin each fall semester. Once a cohort forms, no additional students may join.

Tailored for working professionals, the program features evening and weekend classes arranged sequentially across the two-year curriculum. Students gain extensive exposure to diverse planning contexts through fieldwork and projects in the Los Angeles metropolitan region.
