The Master of Architecture in Urban Design (MAUD) is a post-professional studio program that blends rigorous design training, hands-on research, and deep exploration of urban theory and history. Leveraging the diverse international backgrounds of both faculty and students, the MAUD program creates a shared intellectual foundation for architects passionate about contemporary urban practice and discourse. Designed as a two-year (four-semester) curriculum, MAUD shares its foundational first semester with the MLAUD program, featuring core courses like the Elements of Urban Design Studio, Urban Design Proseminar, and Cities by Design lectures. The subsequent three semesters provide greater flexibility, enabling students to pursue advanced studios and electives across all GSD departments. This structure fosters collaborative and independent research while offering opportunities to develop an optional thesis project.
