The Ecology and Evolutionary Biology specialization within the Bachelor of Science program equips graduates for careers as ecologists, wildlife sanctuary administrators, or roles with federal agencies like the USDA, Bureau of Land Management, and various park services, along with opportunities in environmental consulting and impact assessment. This pathway also provides foundational knowledge for pursuing advanced degrees. Aligned with the College of Science and Mathematics' objectives, the Biology Department cultivates scientifically informed individuals, develops future graduate students, nurtures STEM leaders for educational and industrial sectors, enhances science instruction for K-12 educators, and prepares candidates for health professions including medical, dental, veterinary, and pharmaceutical fields.
Committed to fostering diversity in STEM, the Biology Department actively works to amplify underrepresented voices and promote inclusive scientific discourse. Through academic programs, research initiatives, and community engagement, the department implements structural reforms to create a more equitable, accessible, and supportive environment for all participants in the scientific community.
