Students pursuing a degree in evolution, ecology, and biodiversity will develop comprehensive expertise in these fields and beyond. The EEB major curriculum ensures a well-rounded foundation in fundamental biological concepts. The academic journey starts with introductory classes in biology, math, and physical sciences, then progresses to specialized courses in evolution, ecology, and biodiversity. While following the major's framework, students can customize their studies to align with personal interests. As part of this intimate program, you'll engage closely with professors through hands-on field experiments, marine biology studies at Bodega Marine Laboratory, animal behavior research, microbial genetics, computational biology, and other specialized topics. Additionally, undergraduates can pursue independent research projects guided by faculty and graduate mentors from the Department of Evolution and Ecology or other departments.
Graduates with an Evolution, Ecology & Biodiversity degree are equipped for diverse career paths including scientific research, education, healthcare, veterinary science, agriculture, environmental conservation, and corporate sectors. Many UC Davis students acquire valuable research experience during their studies and opt to advance their education through graduate programs. This pathway leads to professional opportunities in academia, government agencies, environmental nonprofits, and private enterprises.
