The Bachelor of Music in Vocal Arts provides classical voice students with comprehensive training through private instruction, choral groups, opera productions, and art song performances (audition required for admission). The program culminates in a one-hour recital. Students also study diction in French, German, English, and Italian, along with vocal pedagogy, song repertoire, and performance methods. Opera productions feature full staging, costumes, and orchestral accompaniment in the original language. Applicants should demonstrate solid academic preparation and vocal/musicianship skills.
Alumni from the music department hold successful careers worldwide as educators in schools and universities, certified music therapists, orchestra and band directors, published composers, acclaimed recording artists, performers with prestigious opera companies and symphony orchestras, studio musicians, chamber ensemble members, and professionals in Southern California's entertainment industry and beyond.
