The Bachelor of Music with a Keyboard specialization equips students for professional careers in piano performance and teaching (admission requires an audition). Final requirement: a one-hour recital. Piano students at CSUN hone their abilities in solo playing, chamber music, and piano ensembles. The Chamber Music and Piano Ensemble courses conclude with public performances each semester. Performance opportunities abound, including biweekly noon recitals, studio sessions, and guest artist master classes. The Music department also organizes an annual concerto competition, with winners performing alongside the CSUN Symphony Orchestra.
CSUN music alumni hold successful positions worldwide as educators in schools and universities, music therapists, orchestra and band conductors, published composers, acclaimed recording artists, performers in top opera companies and symphony orchestras, studio musicians, chamber ensemble members, and professionals in Southern California's entertainment industry and beyond.
