The Mathematics Department is committed to excellence in both education and research. We strive to create a dynamic environment where undergraduate and graduate students can explore and conduct research across mathematical disciplines. Our programs equip students for diverse professional trajectories, including academic pursuits, actuarial science, engineering, climate studies, healthcare, legal fields, and corporate sectors. Graduates emerge ready to take on leadership positions in our fast-changing, information-driven global community. The Junior-Year Integrated Mathematics (JYI-Math) credential program launches in the third year for qualified applicants. This innovative program blends advanced mathematics coursework with pedagogical training, culminating in both a Mathematics B.A. and a Preliminary Single Subject Teaching Credential in Mathematics. Accepted full-time students can participate in a structured cohort system following a customized academic plan developed with a mathematics education advisor (with options for two- or three-year completion). Part-time participants may progress independently through a flexible, non-cohort track. JYI-Math combines upper-division coursework for the Mathematics degree (Secondary Teaching concentration) with all prerequisites for the Preliminary Single Subject Teaching Credential in Mathematics.
