This graduate-level certificate program equips students to instruct English as a second language (ESL) at U.S. colleges and universities or teach English as a foreign language (EFL) internationally. The curriculum primarily serves two groups: (A) individuals with a master's degree in fields outside ESL or applied linguistics who seek certification for community college or university ESL teaching positions, and (B) those preparing for EFL teaching opportunities overseas.

Hold a Bachelor's degree, and wish to continue your graduate/post-baccalaureate studies in a graduate, certificate, credential or 2nd bachelor's program at Cal State LA.
