The Bachelor of Music program offers specialized training for students pursuing careers in music education, performance, composition, or jazz studies. Prospective students should examine the distinct admission requirements for each concentration outlined below. Every specialization in this degree is meticulously designed to deliver comprehensive artistic and practical training for future music professionals. Each concentration allows for personalized study paths to accommodate individual goals. The foundational curriculum focuses on music theory, literature, and applied studies in lower division courses, while upper division coursework delves into advanced theory, music history, performance techniques, and career-specific preparation. The Music Education track is tailored for those aiming to obtain a California Single Subject Credential in Music. All concentrations except Music Education mandate a junior recital performance. Every Bachelor of Music specialization requires both a senior recital and ongoing participation in performance ensembles alongside applied music instruction. Performance students develop expertise across diverse genres and styles, preparing them for careers as solo performers, ensemble members, school teaching artists, arts organization professionals, independent musicians, entrepreneurs, and performance field leaders.
