The Adulthood and Aging specialization equips students to apply strength-focused, research-backed methods that enhance well-being in adults, older individuals, and families from diverse backgrounds. Combining academic study with practical experience, students develop competencies to meaningfully connect with, evaluate, and support adult and aging populations. The curriculum explores the distinct psychosocial challenges affecting adults, seniors, and their families. Learners investigate the aging journey through interdisciplinary lenses—including biological, mental, social, economic, spiritual, and cultural dimensions—while analyzing modern influences on aging-related policies, practices, and conceptual frameworks. This concentration establishes strong foundations for careers in medical social services, elder protection programs, caregiver support, dementia care, end-of-life services, correctional systems, wellness initiatives for seniors, extended care facilities, and integrated healthcare partnerships.
