The Bachelor of Science in Recreation Therapy equips students to design, coordinate, and oversee therapeutic recreational programs that enhance health and quality of life for people with disabilities or special needs. Graduates will qualify to pursue both California state and national certification in recreation therapy. Community college students planning to transfer should fulfill general education requirements beforehand. Recommended courses to complete at community colleges include H SC 150, BIOL 207, BIOL 208, and PSY 100 when available. Note that lower-division recreation courses from community colleges cannot replace upper-division requirements at the university level.

Fulfill CSULB's English Language Requirement
Have completed at least 1 year of high school mathematics. Applicants to STEM majors must have at least 3 years of high school mathematics.
CSULB has waived the SAT/ACT requirement for all first-time Freshmen applicants. However, if you have taken the test or are planning on doing so, you may have met our English language requirement if you scored at least 550 on the SAT Evidence based Reading & Writing section or ACT 22 or higher in the English section.
