The School of Social Work provides a professional program that, combined with general education courses, leads to a Bachelor of Arts in Social Work (BASW). This program aims to equip students for entry-level generalist social work positions and prepare them for graduate studies, including advanced standing opportunities. The curriculum trains students to work professionally with diverse populations across various systems - from individuals and families to communities and institutions. Coursework is available through both daytime and evening schedules.
Social Work students are encouraged to complement their studies with electives or general education courses in ethnic studies, women's studies, sociology, anthropology, human development, or gerontology programs offered by the Colleges of Health and Human Services and Liberal Arts. For guidance on selecting relevant courses that enhance professional social work knowledge, students can consult with the School of Social Work or the College of Health and Human Services Advising Center.
