The Bachelor of Social Work (B.S.W.) program holds national accreditation from the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE). This generalist degree equips students with the foundational knowledge and practical abilities needed to deliver direct client services across diverse human service environments. Generalist social work practice addresses all populations and service levels, ranging from individual care to global social policy development. Students also engage in professional preparation that involves examining personal values while acquiring specialized competencies. UIS's program follows an empowerment framework focused on advancing social justice and universal human rights.
All B.S.W. candidates must complete 44 credit hours of core social work curriculum, which incorporates eight hours of fieldwork. For detailed information about general education requirements, students are encouraged to meet with their academic advisor.
