The Bachelor of Arts in Modern Jewish Studies is a multidisciplinary program incorporating courses from various academic fields. This major provides students with comprehensive knowledge of Jewish civilizations through examining the interplay of Jewish culture, history, and religion. Learners will investigate both the enduring elements and diverse expressions of Jewish life across different historical periods and regions, while engaging critically with Jewish thought and sacred texts. To graduate, students must achieve Novice-mid Hebrew proficiency (as per ACTFL standards), which can be fulfilled by completing introductory Hebrew (HEBW 101A or HEBW 101B), Biblical Hebrew (R/ST 318 or R/ST 319), or passing a proficiency exam administered by the program director.
