The Literature track provides students with comprehensive training in English and American literary studies, making it especially suitable for those considering advanced studies in English. (Those pursuing a Secondary Credential should follow the Literature focus within the English Education track.)
Detailed program outlines for each specialization can be found on the Department website or obtained from the Department office. Students are encouraged to meet with faculty advisors when selecting their English program and maintain regular consultations throughout their degree progress. The English Department can connect students with appropriate faculty advisors. All English faculty members maintain posted office hours near the Department office, with information available about which advisors specialize in particular tracks.ENGL 100B, a foundational general education course, does not count toward any English track requirements. Certain specializations may allow or require approved courses from other departments, and with advisor approval, may include additional non-English courses. Since many courses fulfill requirements across multiple tracks, students can often switch specializations without losing substantial credit toward degree completion, and many students pursue double majors within English department options.
