Linguistics explores the nature of language. Similar to other fast-evolving disciplines, it defies easy categorization within conventional academic boundaries. Within the humanities, linguistics examines the historical evolution of specific languages or language groups. As a social science, it connects to anthropology by analyzing language as a cultural element, or to psychology through phonetic studies, and may even align with natural sciences through connections to acoustics in physics and anatomical studies in biology. In practical applications, linguistics contributes to diverse areas ranging from language teaching and speech pathology to software development. Additionally, linguistics stands as a formal science, sharing ties with mathematics and logic.
