Psychology explores human behavior scientifically, encompassing thoughts, emotions, and actions while applying this knowledge to solve practical issues. The field covers diverse subjects such as neuroscience, perception, learning, memory, cognition, emotions, personality traits, social dynamics, developmental processes, and atypical behaviors. Psychologists approach behavioral understanding through multiple lenses, examining everything from brain biology to societal and cultural influences on individual and collective conduct.
Psychology majors complete foundational courses in introductory psychology, statistical analysis, and research methods, supplemented by specialized classes across key subfields. Students can enhance their learning through practical experiences in faculty-led research labs or supervised fieldwork. High-achieving undergraduates may join the senior honors program, where they develop, execute, and present an independent research project as their culminating thesis.
