The Geography Department provides a Bachelor of Arts in geography, along with minor programs in geography, meteorology, and an interdisciplinary urban studies option. Our curriculum prepares undergraduates for careers in environmental research, education, weather analysis, urban/regional planning, and advanced academic pursuits.

At its core, geography examines humanity's relationship with the Earth, exploring our living environments and the connections between people and the natural world. Essentially, the discipline offers comprehensive insights into global populations, cultures, and challenges. Geography develops specialized technical skills to tackle economic, social, and environmental issues across all scales - from local communities to worldwide systems - using spatial organization principles similar to history's chronological framework.

By synthesizing information from both natural and social sciences, geography delivers a versatile liberal arts education with applications across numerous professional fields.

Our department features diverse courses serving multiple purposes. First, we enhance global awareness for all students as a vital aspect of modern university education. Second, we deliver specialized knowledge and methodologies for geography majors and minors. Third, we support students from related fields who wish to complement their studies with geographic perspectives.
