The Communicative Sciences program offers students a liberal arts education combined with specialized coursework covering speech, language, hearing development, and communication disorders. Those focusing on deaf studies can choose among three pathways: deaf education, deaf studies, or sign language interpretation.
The Communicative Sciences and Deaf Studies discipline encompasses audiology, speech-language pathology, deaf education, and interpretation, addressing various aspects of speech, hearing, and language. Audiologists and speech-language pathologists specialize in diagnosing, rehabilitating, and educating individuals with communication difficulties. Meanwhile, deaf education specialists and interpreters focus on delivering educational and community services for those who use American Sign Language or alternative communication methods.
