CSUB's Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology offers a comprehensive curriculum spanning multiple disciplines, including physical activity leadership, clinical exercise science, personal training, and allied health fields. Kinesiology majors can select from three specialization tracks: Applied Exercise Science, Physical Activity Leadership, or Allied Health.
The Applied Exercise Science concentration equips students for roles in the fitness/wellness sector (such as corporate fitness programs) and clinical rehabilitation environments (like cardiac rehab). This track also serves as excellent preparation for graduate studies in fields like exercise physiology. The curriculum aligns with current academic standards and prepares graduates for professional certifications through the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) and National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA).
Additionally, the department provides numerous recreational/fitness activity courses (1500-level) that count toward degree requirements. These courses are graded on a pass/fail basis, with Kinesiology majors required to complete four distinct activity courses (only one of which may be taken online) as part of their program requirements.
