Sports science examines how the human body reacts to physical exertion and exercise. This multidisciplinary field encompasses specialties like exercise physiology, biomechanics, motor control, and sports psychology. Professionals in this domain apply biological, chemical, and physical principles to deepen knowledge about bodily responses to activity, while promoting exercise as a preventive measure and treatment for conditions like cancer and cardiovascular disease. Our newly introduced sports medicine specialization creates opportunities for healthcare graduate studies. This focus fulfills all prerequisites for athletic training advanced programs. With slight curriculum adjustments, it can also prepare students for graduate studies in physical therapy, occupational therapy, and physician assistant fields. Wright State's sports science program holds full accreditation from the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP). We maintain educational excellence by adhering to CAAHEP's national standards, which define the essential competencies, skills, and expertise required for aspiring sports science professionals.
