The Department of Public Policy and Administration at CSU Bakersfield cultivates and strengthens analytical reasoning, effective communication, leadership abilities, a commitment to public service, and active participation in policymaking for current and aspiring professionals in government, nonprofit, and healthcare sectors across the San Joaquin Valley. This program's essential competencies will empower administrators in these fields to practice governance with inclusivity and social accountability.

Our PPA programs aim to develop skilled, principled, and impactful leaders for public, nonprofit, and healthcare sectors who can elevate community service. In alignment with the university's academic and professional expectations, students must cultivate and exhibit ethical conduct in all endeavors to maintain public trust in civic institutions. Candidates or enrolled students determined through formal departmental evaluation to violate academic honesty or professional ethics may face admission denial, probation, suspension, or program dismissal, with all such decisions subject to university-level review and appeal processes.
