ODU's political science program centers on examining government systems, political processes, and state affairs at both national and global levels. The curriculum provides students with fundamental knowledge while enhancing their analytical abilities and critical reasoning. Learners can explore various fields including U.S. government systems, Virginia's state and local governance, legal studies, global affairs, and cross-national political comparisons. The department offers both Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Science degrees. The B.A. program includes intermediate-level foreign language requirements, while the B.S. focuses on building quantitative research and data interpretation capabilities.
