The political science program equips students with expertise in contemporary political science principles and techniques, covering topics such as democratic representation, voting systems, public resource distribution, and governance patterns. This curriculum focuses on analytical approaches including game theory, collective decision-making frameworks, and structured political models, complemented by statistical methods for hypothesis validation. Furthermore, the program fosters independent scholarly investigation.
Graduates of the political science track will achieve these educational goals: proficiency in applying social decision theory and strategic interaction models to political contexts, competence in utilizing statistical approaches for political analysis, capability to articulate sophisticated theoretical and empirical findings in academic papers and presentations, and preparation for advanced studies or professional paths in legal, governmental, political, or policy-making fields.
International citizens must have completed Caltech's required academic preparation during their secondary school career.
Additional requirements of our international citizen applicants: TOEFL scores: Required of all international citizens unless 1) your native language is English or 2) you have studied for two or more years in a school where English is the language of instruction.
