We offer emerging artists a nurturing environment and a culture of thoughtful critique. Students hone their technical and conceptual abilities in drawing and painting studios while exchanging ideas with instructors, classmates, and guest artists. Embracing a wide perspective on fine arts' role in society, with opportunities to create diverse artworks, our students build foundations for both MFA programs and enduring careers as professional artists. Our flexible curriculum explores and extends beyond conventional painting and drawing traditions. For instance, students can experiment across disciplines through open studio electives, scaling up projects and exploring innovative materials. From hands-on experimentation and idea development to critique sessions and final presentations, students gain comprehensive experience in all facets of artistic creation.
Graduates leave our Painting and Drawing program equipped with critical analysis, leadership, and visual communication skills to carve their own creative trajectories. With expertise in multiple mediums and techniques, alumni pursue diverse independent practices spanning illustration, curation, glass art, and beyond. They also develop entrepreneurial skills for their careers, learning to collaborate with galleries, navigate art market complexities, and meet production and exhibition deadlines. Above all, our alumni continually refine their artistic identities, finding inventive ways to weave personal experiences and passions into transformative artwork.
