Aging is an essential biological phenomenon, with age-related illnesses being the primary mortality factor in contemporary societies. The Aging Track aims to educate future scientists in tackling the complex yet vital mission of comprehending and ultimately influencing the aging mechanism to enhance human wellbeing. Brown University's Graduate Program in Pathobiology, part of the Graduate School and Division of Biology and Medicine, provides advanced studies culminating in a Ph.D. degree. Applicants generally possess robust undergraduate backgrounds in biology and biochemistry, along with previous research exposure through academic or summer programs. The Pathobiology Program focuses on four key research areas: 1) Toxicology and Environmental Pathology, 2) Infection and Immunity, 3) Cancer Biology, and 4) Aging. Each student's curriculum and research plan is customized through collaboration with faculty advisors, ensuring mastery in their primary field while avoiding unnecessary coursework. Cross-disciplinary collaboration is promoted with other graduate programs within the Division and across University departments.
