Mechanical engineering encompasses a wide-ranging field of study. Traditionally, mechanical engineers focus on creating engines and turbines, energy conversion systems for both renewable and conventional sources, vehicles and aircraft, manufacturing tools and equipment, and building infrastructure services. This discipline is constantly advancing: contemporary mechanical engineers develop biomedical devices and instruments, sensors, 3D printing technology, micro-electro-mechanical systems, and robotics. Given that all products must be engineered to endure stress, vibrations, and thermal conditions, mechanical engineers are sought after by almost every industry, including consumer electronics designers and manufacturers, semiconductor and computer producers, and software firms specializing in computer-aided-design. The mechanical engineering curriculum aims to equip students with a comprehensive interdisciplinary foundation and specialized education in the two core areas of the field: mechanical and thermal systems. The program provides numerous specialized pathways within mechanical engineering, enabling students to customize their studies according to their personal objectives.
