History examines the evolution of societies and cultures globally throughout different eras. Students focusing on history develop critical writing and analytical skills while gaining multifaceted viewpoints. The curriculum encompasses diverse courses tracking humanity's transformation across ages, from ancient Greek and Roman societies to the historical narratives of Africa, the Middle East, the Americas, and Asia. Some classes delve into specialized subjects, while others focus on specific nations (like China or Brazil) or time periods (such as Antiquity or the 1900s). Through this extensive range of courses, learners cultivate comprehensive understandings of both historical and contemporary contexts.
Students should complete secondary school. Brown first-year students will have completed 12 to 13 years of primary and secondary schooling.
A TOEFL score of 100 or above on the internet-based exam, or 600 or above on the paper-based exam, or a score of 8.0 or above on the IELTS, is expected in most cases.
