The Applied Mathematics-Economics program is structured to align with the quantitative foundations of contemporary economic theory and research. This concentration offers two specialized paths. The first, the advanced economics pathway, equips students for graduate-level economics studies. The second, the mathematical finance pathway, prepares students for either finance-related graduate programs or careers in finance and financial engineering. Both pathways are available as A.B. or Sc.B. degree options, including a Professional track variant. Core mathematical competencies in Applied Mathematics derive from diverse disciplines relevant to specific problem-solving needs: differential equations (both ordinary and partial), matrix algebra, statistical methods, probability theory, decision analysis, risk assessment, and actuarial studies, among others. This field attracts individuals with varied interests, from those seeking strong quantitative preparation for professional pursuits to those fascinated by the fundamental methodologies themselves. The standard program culminates in either an A.B. or Sc.B. degree.
